SUMMARY:KofC Free Diocesan Throw Championship
DESCRIPTION:Knights of Columbus Diocesan Free Throw Championship\nDD Kebran Alexander of District 109 is our main point of contact and the championship will be held at Bishop Dunne Catholic School in Dallas on Sunday\, February 22\, 2026. \nRegistration will begin at 11:30am.  The event will last from noon-3pm. \nOnce the competition for an age group has been completed\, no late arrivals can be accommodated.\nOnce all age groups have finished\, we will go into the awards ceremony. \n\nParticipant Information\n\n\n\nDon’t be late!!!  Registration will occur from 11:30am-12:30pm.\nThe free throw competition begins promptly at 12:45pm.\nAll participants must have the current\, valid form for this year’s competition.  Birth date that counts provides the age as of January 1\, 2026.  Once birth date has been verified\, please write “BD VERIFIED” on the top right corner of the form (Please make sure that contact information for the parent on the form is legible).\nAge groups will be scheduled once we have identified the number of participants from each group who are present and signed in by 12:30pm.\nAll winners will advance to the K of C State Free Throw Competition. There will be one awards area (indoors) and will require 10 volunteers during each shift. Assisting the athletes of the Special Olympics is entertaining and worthwhile as well as a very rewarding experience. \nThis can serve as one of your State Council Service Program Awards necessary for the council to be awarded the prestigious Star Council Award by the Supreme Council. The women are invited to help with the handling of the medals and ribbons and the children are invited to cheer for the athletes when they receive their awards. \nShifts: \nSATURDAY\, July 26\n\nSHIFT #1 8 AM To 1:00 PM\nSHIFT #2 12:30 PM To 6 PM\n\nFeel free to work one shift or both shifts as you are able to work into your busy schedule. DESCRIPTION:KofC Special Olympics Summer Games May 2-3\nBrothers\, \nThank you so much for your commitment to Special Olympics. \nSpecial Olympics will be conducting state-wide summer games in Melissa the weekend of May 2-3. This was not on our calendar as it has previously been done in San Antonio. They have now asked for our help. We will be responsible for one award area on Friday afternoon\, May 2nd\, and Saturday Morning\, May 3rd\, for Soccer/Tennis. Details are below. We will need at least 6 Knights each shift. \nSpecial Olympics Soccer/Tennis\nThe Z-Plex\n4220 E. Melissa Road\, Melissa\, TX 75454 \nFriday\, May 2:\n\nShift 1 (12 noon – 3:00 PM)\nShift 2 (2:30 – 5:30 PM)\n\nSaturday\, May 3:\n\nShift 1 (8:30 AM – 11:30 AM)\nShift 2 (11:00AM – 1:30PM)\n\nI know that this was not in our plan\, but it is a big need and they need our help. It will be great visibility for the Knights which were one of the founders of Special Olympics and a great supporter. If you have availability\, please consider helping on one or more of these shifts. As always all Knights working must be safe environment cleared. Assisting the athletes of the Special Olympics is entertaining and worthwhile as well as a very rewarding experience. \nThis can serve as one of your State Council Service Program Awards necessary for the council to be awarded the prestigious Star Council Award by the Supreme Council. Women are invited to help with the handling of the medals and ribbons and teenage children are welcome to help bring the athletes up to the awards stations. It is a good opportunity for them to earn volunteer hours. Only the Knights will assist in the presentation of the awards to the athletes unless we are blessed with some celebrities. \nKNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SAFE ENVIRONMENT GUIDELINES:\nWe have been informed by the Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Chair all members of the Knights of Columbus and their family members are encouraged to assist with the upcoming Special Olympics events. All volunteers that do assist should be Safe Environment cleared; otherwise\, they will be paired with a volunteer that has been cleared. Non-Catholic volunteers are welcome to assist with the presentation of awards and will be paired with a volunteer that has been safe environment cleared. \nBecause this is such a big event\, please contact me at 972-966-3773 or philcoup1@gmail.com as soon as possible and let me know which shifts you can work.
