Brothers, thank you for your great help and support for Special Olympics. This year there is a significant change to the Bowling Event. Special Olympics has decided to reduce the length of the event to one week. Therefore, during the week, they will be using both of the above bowling lanes simultaneously with two awards areas in each. We are going to try to support both sites, if possible. In order to do this, we will need 30 volunteers per day during the week. This is more volunteers than we have ever had. If we cannot get enough, then we will support one site. We will not make that decision until we know how many volunteers we will have. At that time we will let all volunteers know the site at which they will be working.
Saturday, November 9, will be only at USA Bowl and we will need at least 20 volunteers on shift 1 and 15 on shifts two and three.
Monday, November 11 thru Wednesday, November 13: 10:00AM – 1:30PM AMF Lanes Garland
Please invite family members and friends and as many Knights as possible to help as we will need everyone we can get. Please let me know as early as possible which dates and shifts you can work, so that we can plan our support.
Saturday, November 9: USA Bowl 8:30AM TO 12:00 Noon (Shift 1), 11:30AM TO 3:00PM (Shift 2), 2:30PM TO 6:00PM (Shift 3)
THE KNIGHTS WILL ASSIST MR. DWAYNE LOVELL WITH THE PRESENTATION OF THE AWARDS TO THE ATHLETES.This is a very rewarding experience as those of you have been helping us in the past have experienced.
The women are invited to help with the handling of the medals and ribbons and the children are invited to cheer for the athletes when they receive their awards. Only the Knights will assist in the presentation of the awards to the athletes.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SAFE ENVIRONMENT GUIDELINES:
We have been informed by the Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Chair all members of the Knights of Columbus and their family members are encouraged to assist with the upcoming Special Olympics events. All volunteers that do assist should be Safe Environment cleared; otherwise, they will be paired with a volunteer that has been cleared. Non-Catholic volunteers are welcome to assist with the presentation of awards and will be paired with a volunteer that has been safe environment cleared.
Because this is such a big event, please contact me at 972-966-3773 or philcoup1@gmail.com as soon as possible and let me know which shifts you can work. Please bring your fellow Knights and friends.
This event can be used as one of the service programs toward your Star Council award and for the Wings Award.
This will be another enjoyable and rewarding experience for the Knights of the Dallas Diocese. Thanks in advance for your dedication and support of area 10 Special Olympics.
Fraternally,
Phil Coup, Special Olympics Coordinator for Dallas Diocese
