2021-2022 Fraternal Year

My Brothers All,

We made it! Despite all that transpired or did not come to fruition, we made it through the most difficult year imaginable. I thank each and every one of you for all your hard and smart work and dedication to make 2020-2021 truly a year to remember. Together with the Grand Knights and leaders of each council we were able to rise above many obstacles and challenges and we have come out better and stronger than ever. Thank you!

As we begin the new Fraternal Year, I am pleased to announce a few additions to our team. I’d like you to all welcome Ed Stankunas, formally DD 111 to Assistance Diocesan Deputy for our Diocese.  As we all know, Ed brings tremendous strengths in leadership and organizations skills to the position and is a welcome addition along with current ADD’s Ed Diaz, Jim Kowalski and Patrick Vlk. Thank you Ed for stepping up and assisting in leading the Diocese of Dallas!

We have 2 New District Deputies; Dennis Stark and Eddie Castillo. Dennis has taken over for District 105. Eddie is now DD 116 taking over 3593 and a few dormant Councils we plan to reactivate in 2021-2022. Both Dennis and Eddie bring a new set of eyes into existing councils and with their assistance and leadership great things are on the horizon for these two districts. Welcome Brothers and thank you for answering the call!

DD Scott Brkovich will assume the role vacated by Ed Stankunas and I am confident that District 111 will continue to excel.  DD 108 Jack Ayers will add the UTD Council to his district effective July 1. District 104 remains open at this time. I am grateful to SK Pat Conway who in addition to his new State Position on the Membership team is the acting DD overseeing 799 11937 and 15852. Thank you SK Pat for all you do for our Diocese when asked!

I am excited about the opportunities that we have ahead of us. Most of you will be attending the State Organizational Meeting to be held July 16-18 in Round Rock. I have seen some of the plans and ideas that have been presented and I am sure you all will be excited and recharged after the weekend. on Saturday July 31, we will hold our Diocesan Organizational Meeting to review the plans with our council leaders as well as our Diocesan Specific Plans and Programs. This meeting will be held at St. Michael The Archangel  Catholic Church, 950 Trails Parkway Garland, TX. In Curran Hall. We will hold two (2) Sessions. Session One will be an English presentation  beginning at 8:30 until 11:45. The afternoon session will be for our Spanish Speaking Brothers beginning at 1:30 going until 4:30 PM.  A pizza Lunch will be served immediately following the morning session. Please emphasize the importance of this meeting to your Council Leaders and stress the importance of their attendance. Not only will they gain information of the programs and direction of the State and Diocese, this is a tremendous opportunity to enjoy some sorely needed fellowship form our brothers throughout the Diocese of Dallas.

To our Dallas Program Leaders, please advise your plans to attend and present your needed information.

Gentlemen, the opportunities that lie ahead are looking for leaders to step up and take charge. As we continue to open up, our Pastors and Priests are needing more help than ever to get parishioners back to Mass and back to the Church. We talk about being in solidarity with our Bishops and Priests, now it’s time to walk the walk and make things happen! I am excited to work side by side with each and every one of you as we take the challenges head on! Together, we can make great things happen!

Thank you all for everything you have done and will do for our Councils, our parishes, The Diocese of Dallas and our Order!

Vivat Jesus,

SK Mike Courtney
Dallas Diocesan Deputy
