60th Annual Knights of Columbus Bob Stras Memorial High School Basketball Tournament Wrap Up

The Knights of Columbus of the Dallas Diocese presented the 60th Annual Bob Stras Memorial Basketball Tournament between November 30th and December 2nd, 2023 at Jesuit College Prep and Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. The Knights provided all of the trophies and individual awards, tee shirts for all participants, a 48 page color program with all rosters and brackets, personalized “bag tags” for all players and coaches, a commemorative gift for all head coaches, food for the teams after the games and a substantial stipend for each of the two host schools to cover the cost of referees, security and other operating costs.

Eight boys teams competed at Jesuit and 8 girls teams at Bishop Lynch and the competition was great in both divisions. Colleyville beat Bishop Lynch in the Girls Championship game with a score of 46 to 30 and Jesuit College Prep defeated Hillcrest Dallas, 66-43 for the Boys Championship

Prior to the start of the Boys Division play, SK Bob Stras’s family presented Jesuit College Prep President Mike Earsing with Bob’s Fourth Degree memorial Chalice for use in their new chapel being constructed in 2024 and the Color Corp was present at both sites to present the colors prior to the Championship games.

  • Will Bronson, Jesuit College Prep
  • Salvon Johnson, Hillcrest High School
  • Isreal Nansha, Hillcrest High School

Many thanks to the 21 Knights who volunteered at the Tournament sites as well as to Council 5052 who prepared and funded the meal for the Boys at Jesuit on Thursday evening. Also, the Chapter would like to thank all of the Councils, Assemblies and Individual Knights who advertised in the Tournament program which allowed us to do all that we did in making this edition of the Bob Stras Memorial our best ever!
