WHEELCHAIRS FOR TEXAS
The First Lady’s Project

First Lady Sheryl Goss and brother Larry
Sheryl Goss and her brother, Larry

Inspired by her brother Larry, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, Texas State Council First Lady Sheryl Goss has dedicated her thoughts and prayers to help people in need of mobility across the state of Texas. She and her husband Bob have worked for years promoting the health and welfare of our nation’s veterans, and the less fortunate members of our own communities.

The gift of a wheelchair heals the hearts, minds and souls of people across Texas.

A person confined to a bed feels the love of Christ in their heart because someone cares enough to help them. Knowing that prayers for a better life are answered, allows hopes and dreams for the future. The ability to once again attend church uplifts the souls of every person we touch, regardless of where and when they worship.

MISSION

Since 2003, Knights of Columbus and their families have sponsored the delivery of more than 150,000 wheelchairs into the lives of children, teens, adults, and our nation’s veterans. Wheelchair Sunday parish drives are the most successful fundraising tool, and any parish raising funds for wheelchairs can designate the sponsorship to the First Lady’s project of Wheelchairs for Texas.

PROCESS

The brand new wheelchairs the American Wheelchair Mission delivers would sell in a medical supply store for $500. Because they are purchased by entire containers of 280 or 110 wheelchairs, they can be delivered for $150 each, and answer the prayers of entire families.

Brother Knights,

The First Lady’s Project is to increase the number of wheelchair donations and keep 25% of these for Texans!

The following QR code is a Microsoft Form all Councils should fill out and complete when they plan to host a Wheelchair Sunday at your parish. This QR code lets the State know about your Wheelchair drives.
