Dallas Diocese Upcoming New Fraternal Year
Worthy Current & Future District Deputies, Current Grand Knights & Financial Secretaries and Dallas Directors & Committeemen,
What a great 122nd Texas Knights of Columbus State Convention this past weekend! Many thanks to everyone here in Dallas who helped make this such a success! Congratulations to Jim Hale of council 799 for earning the State Deputy Award for Patriotism! And to Mike Courtney being named as our new State Charity Director for the next two years! Kevin Quinn was elected as our new Dallas Diocesan Chapter President and Father Eugene Okoli of St. Gabriel the Archangel in McKinney (council 12153) will serve as our new DDC Chaplain! All other officers will be staying in their current positions. Ben Budia is our NEW General Agent and he is in the process of hiring TWELVE new field agents for Dallas! If you know of any great candidates please pass their information to either Mike Courtney or myself. I have personally enjoyed my time with the State Council these past eight years but I am ready to come home to Dallas. I am very excited to serve as your new Diocesan Deputy! I only hope I am worthy of filling the shoes of Mike Courtney. I can promise you I will give this my all. I work for you and your future leadership will make Dallas the top Knights of Columbus Diocese in Texas!
Remember that we will have TWO months in our current Fraternal Year! Let’s keep our foot on the gas and finish the year strong!
The 2026-26 State Organizational Meeting will be held in Houston from June 26 – 28. This is our bi-annual District Deputy training and will be an impactful weekend! Our new District Deputies will also be formally installed at this meeting so bring your wives. Meeting invites from the State will be coming out soon. On Saturday, July 11 we will hold our Dallas Diocesan Conference hosted by Council 8954, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 S. Jupiter Road, Richardson, TX, 75081. Registration 8 am, conference will begin 8:30am to Noon. Formal invitation will follow. We would like all our District Deputies, Grand Knights and Financial Secretaries to attend and this is open to all Knights in Dallas. All the Dallas Directors and committeemen will have tables in the back and sides to answer questions about their particular areas of responsibility after the conference concludes.
We will have SEVEN new district deputies! First, I want to thank those District Deputies retiring for their outstanding service. I appreciate all that you have done to make Dallas great. And for our NEW District Deputies I am excited to be working with you in the future! Let’s have fun in Dallas! I am attaching a spreadsheet that lists our previous and new District Deputies and their assigned councils. I urge you to be proactive and talk to the previous DD and perhaps even begin to have some brief introductions with council leadership. Also there are tabs on council halls, Program Directors / Committeemen, DDC Officers, and an incomplete list of Dallas Knights with State responsibilities (will complete this later). Our incoming State Deputy Bob Goss has asked for a different crest on the District Deputy shirts and we still have permission to use the Dallas Diocese crest on the right. I have our official KC vendor who can make these for us. Our colors will remain Green and Purple. Details to follow. The four Assistant Diocesan Deputies will be:
- Michael Kells-Murphy, DD 111
- Kevin Quinn, DD 115
- Ed Stankunas
- Patrick Vlk
