Father Jose and Brother Knights,
Holy Family of Nazareth Council #5243 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Irving, and the Dallas Diocese, held a successful 2nd Annual Wheelchair Sunday over the weekend. Including the $250 collected before the weekend, they raised $6,343 for 42 wheelchairs. Their funds will be used to help provide a large container of 280 wheelchairs for the Yucatán CRIT Center in Merida, Mexico.
Since it is estimated that each wheelchair delivered changes and improves an average of 10 lives, they will make an immediate impact in the lives of 420 people.
There was one Our Lady of Guadalupe lithograph given out to a donor of $500 or more and lots of donation envelopes handed out.
Thank you so much to Fr. Jose Carmen Hernandez for his wonderful support of this mission. Thanks also to Brother Loren Hedrick for coordinating the event, helping at all 9 Masses and reading the pulpit talk at the 3 English Masses and the one Portuguese Mass. Grateful to the other Brother Knights that helped, especially Brother Ricardo Guzman-Hefferan that read the pulpit talk at all 5 Spanish Masses and helped at all the Masses. And thank you to the parishioners of St. Luke Catholic Church for their generosity in providing all these life changing gifts of mobility.
Dear Fr. Jose and Brother Knights,
Thank you so much for your continued support of our life-changing mission. We so sincerely appreciate your compassionate hearts.
I am sorry for the delay in thanking you, but we have been delivering wheelchairs in American Samoa for the past week.
Each life we are able to touch with the gift of mobility answers the prayers of entire families.
God’s warm embrace is welcomed by all those who suffer from immobility, but have the love and dreams in their hearts that we all share. Our presence in their lives lets them know they are loved and important.
God bless you all for helping us touch so many lives.
Most sincerely,
Chris
