St. Mark the Evangelist Wheelchair Sunday Update
Santa Maria Council 6065 at St. Mark the Evangelist in Plano in the Dallas Diocese, raised $2,686 for 18 wheelchairs the second weekend of their Wheelchair Sunday. Their total raised over the two weekends, including online donations, is $12,055 for 80 wheelchairs. This exceeds the $11,788 for 78 wheelchairs that they raised last year for the CRIT Center in Chihuahua, Mexico. Their funds will go towards purchasing a large container of 280 wheelchairs for the CRIT Center in Chiapas, Mexico.
Thank you so much to Brother Charlie Minjares for coordinating and helping with the event for the 4th year in a row. Thanks also to all the Brother Knights that helped over the two weekends, to their generous parishioners and to Pastor Marco Rangel for his support. God bless all of you.
Blessings,
Brother Bill Weber
Great job by everyone involved in this effort! Through your help, 800 lives have been improved! WDD’s please share this information with your councils as one of our goals is to have ALL Councils sponsor at least one Wheelchair in this fraternal year. Thanks for all you do!
SK Mike Courtney, Dallas Diocesan Deputy
Just a special note of thanks to SK Bill Weber himself who spent the entirety of the first weekend of the two weekend event at St. Mark’s manning the tent with our brothers, taking donations and answering questions of parishioners. As you all have witnessed for so long now, Bill is a dedicated leader of the Global Wheelchair Mission and the Diocese, the State of Texas and St. Mark the Evangelist parish is very fortunate to have Bill leading this effort. He not only” talks the talk” but definitely “walks the walk”. Over the last 3 years our Council has raised over $50,000 which would not have happened without Bill working closely with Brother Charlie Minjares, our project chairman and our other brother Knights. On behalf of Council 6065, thanks so much for what you do and how you do it Bill!
Jake Fleischer, Financial Secretary, Council 6065
