Texas Wheelchair Mission Jan 2024 Report

Brother Knights,

Attached is the report of the Wheelchair Mission Donations by Diocese and Council received as of January 31, 2024. Thank you and God bless you to the First Lady’s Initiative, 171 Councils, 1 Chapter and 5 Assemblies that donated a total of $514,310 for 3,428 wheelchairs this fraternal year. Since it is estimated that each wheelchair delivered changes and improves an average of 10 lives, you will impact the lives of 34,280 people.

At this time last fraternal year, the donations received were $413,991 for 2,760 wheelchairs. Although the donations are significantly ahead of last fraternal year’s pace, but please do not let up and get your donations submitted. Texas is trying to exceed their own record of $966,664 for 6,444 wheelchairs raised in 2022-2023 and raise over 1 million dollars.

The goal for District Deputies is to have all their Councils participate in the Wheelchair Program by donating at least $150 for one wheelchair and have at least one of their Councils hold a Wheelchair Sunday.

Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.

Please make checks payable to American Wheelchair Mission and include the attached donation form in your mailing. To donate online, please visit amwheelchair.org/donate and select “Knights of Columbus” in the Campaign field and enter your Council Number in the Organization/Council field.

In January, our Worthy State Deputy and First Lady, Terry and Beth Frugé, traveled to Mexico City for a wheelchair distribution. This is the link to the pictures from that trip: https://www.photoknight.net/event/24-Jan-Mexico-City.

If you have any questions about the Wheelchair Program, need help with a Wheelchair Sunday, or need wheelchairs, please contact me in Plano at yankeesweb@tx.rr.com or 214-405-8023 or Assistant Wheelchair Chairman Brian Nelson in San Antonio at abn091951@gmail.com or 210-275-7921.

Blessings,
Bill Weber
