Father Loyd Morris, 1937-2024

Father Loyd Morris and his wife Fran grew up in Texas as Methodists and they both later became Episcopalians. While they were both born on different corners of the state, after marrying they settled in Collin County since the early 60’s where they raised two sons. Father Morris served as an Episcopalian Priest for 18 years until February 1995. Following the 1980 Pope John Paul II decree that former Anglican ministers, even if married, could be ordained as priests in the Catholic Church, he and wife Fran converted to Catholicism in 1991. Soon after Father Loyd applied for the priesthood and was finally ordained in 1995, becoming Parochial Vicar at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. Then in 1997 he became the Pastor at Saint Anthony Catholic Parish in Wylie, Texas where he remained until his retirement in 2008. Father Morris was instrumental in founding the Knights of Columbus St. Anthony Council 12300. He later served as Diocesan Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus Dallas Diocese Chapter until 2019. He was a member of KofC Council 17304 St Martin De Porres in Fort Worth.
